Audi has launched the RS7 in India and it is basically the fastest version of the A7. Attaching the RS badge has meant that the A7 now sports a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 with a supercar bothering 560 bhp on offer. Performance as you would expect is brilliant with a 0-100 kmph time of just 3.9 seconds which is needless to say very very fast. With an option the top speed is 305 km/h.
There is an eight-speed tiptronic transmission featuring shortened shift times and offering ‘Sport’ and ‘Manual’ modes in addition to the standard ‘Drive’ setting and for manual shifts, drivers can use the paddles on the steering wheel or the RS-specific selector lever.
As always it has the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system plus loads of tech so that even you are never out of control with this car. Handy with 560 bhp. As for the looks the Audi A7 is not a bad looking car- far from it, but the RS7 looks a lot more aggressive.
We love the 20-inch alloy wheels in a seven twin-spoke design plus there is the high gloss black honeycomb radiator grille, a diffuser and two large, elliptical exhaust tailpipes. The interior is more sporty as well. If you want one prepare to fork out Rs 1.29 cr which means it is cheaper than the R8 and more practical for our roads.
“We started the year with the historic achievement of becoming the first-ever luxury car manufacturer to achieve sales of 10,000 units in a year, and now we follow it up with another momentous step - introduction of the most powerful Audi model from our product range - Audi RS 7 Sportback in India. Embodying our philosophy of “Vorsprung durch Technik”, the Audi RS 7 Sportback is Audi’s superlative illustration of sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication- combining the strengths of a large, five-door coupé and a sportscar.
After the overwhelming response to our Audi RS 5 which further boosted our leadership in the luxury sportscar segment in India, we are confident that the Audi RS 7 Sportback with its aesthetic design and impressive sportiness would establish new benchmarks in the performance sportscar segment in India.” said Mr. Joe King, Head, Audi India.
