Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), a part of the $16.7 billion Mahindra Group today announced that it had sold more than 75,000 units of its XUV500 in just over two years since its launch. Launched at the end of September 2011, the XUV500 was designed entirely in-house at Mahindra’s research and development facility called Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Speaking on the achievement of the Mahindra XUV500; Pravin Shah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Automotive Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said “We are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from customers to the XUV500 that has led to impressive sales of 75,000 plus vehicles in just over two years since its launch. This is a benchmark for sales among high-end SUVs, for which we are humbled. As a customer centric organization, we keep on evolving and the launch of the W4 variant bears testimony to the same”.
The company has recently launched the entry level W4 model of the XUV500 at a price of Rs 10.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This model is also powered by the mHawk 140 bhp engine and after having received a rousing response in India, Australia and South Africa; the XUV500 is now poised to make its mark in Europe, Chile and other international markets.
