Mercedes-Benz India has revealed its plans for the Auto Expo and it will be unveiling the CLA45 AMG and GLA concept. Of course all its recent launches and its entire range will be there too. With the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class launched, this year will be the its ‘Year of Excellence’. The CLA45 AMG as the name says is the hottest version of the CLA and yes it will also be on sale soon. The CLA of course in other engines will go on sale late this year too.
Back to the CLA45 AMG and the talking point here is the AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine developing 360 hbp and up to 450 Newton metres of torque which makes it the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine in series production anywhere in the world. The CLA45 AMG is all-wheel drive and has the AMG DCT 7-speed sports transmission.
The numbers are fantastic too with a zero to 100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. Styling wise the CLA is already good looking but the AMG "twin blade" radiator grille and the cross strut in the AMG front apron, both painted in matt titanium grey, big cooling air intakes, AMG twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and AMG sports exhaust system give it a menacing look.
The other unveil will be the GLA concept and we expect the production version to be launched in India late next year or so. The GLA is the BMW X1, Audi Q3 rival from Mercedes and based on the A-class just like the CLA, the engine options will be shared and the interior is also a lot similar.
For racing enthusiasts Mercedes-Benz will showcase the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 team car, which won the podium in the 2013 Indian Grand Prix. Also fans will be able to place requests for a live demo of any car or elements in the pavilion and on-ground promoters equipped with GoPro cameras will fulfill their requests.
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented; “Auto Expo 2014 is a much awaited event in Indian Automotive Industry and we are all set to bedazzle our customers with excellence. The Mercedes-Benz pavilion will be a perfect embodiment of modern luxury, high performance, innovative design and exemplary safety which are synonymous with our brand promise ‘Best or Nothing’.”
