Maruti has revealed one of the most important figures of its upcoming Celerio hatchback which is its mileage. The Maruti Celerio has an efficiency of 23.1 kmpl for the automatic version! Now that must have been a big surprise for you. Today Maruti also launched a teaser campaign and also bookings for this new hatch are open.
The Maruti Celerio will have an automatic as well as manual transmission with the auto hogging all the limelight. The Celerio has an Automated Manual Transmission i.e. a gearbox that is a manual but does not have a clutch. We also learn that this gearbox will not have a huge price-gap over the conventional 5-speed manual gearbox as Maruti is keen to push this version.
What has also been officially revealed is the interior which is similar to current Maruti cars but from the pictures the quality and fit and finish is improved. As you can see the Celerio will be more spacious and the design of the cabin is well thought out too. The light colours used no doubt will increase the sense of space inside. This interior is a huge leap from either the Estilo or even the newer WagonR Stingray.
The boot is a reasonable 235 litres and this car is not as cramped as the A-Star or even the Estilo. The equipment levels will be good with the usual features like steering controls and Bluetooth. Looks wise the Celerio is similar to the A:Wind concept but obviously watered down but still the design is clean and pleasant.
Engine wise there will be the K Series petrol engine with around 68 bhp and we think this would make the Celerio quite peppy in nature plus also being fun to drive. Expect this to be one of the stars from Maruti at the Auto Expo 2014.
