By   |   24 January,2014

Volkswagen India announced that experienced motorsports veteran Sirish VIssa will take over as the Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India on the 27th of January, 2014. He already has garnered acclaim for having established two companies in India to promote new ideas for manufacturing and motorsports and being part of a team that developed a car for the LeMans 24 Hours Endurance Race.

Volkswagen Motorsport India commenced operations with the Polo Cup 2010 and the first event was a street race in Pune. VW Motorsport also conducts the Volkswagen Polo R Cup in which drivers race identically engineered cars with the same power output, thereby making it possible for sheer driving skill to shine through.

Commenting on the appointment, Sirish Vissa said, “I am honoured and excited at the opportunity of heading the already well established Volkswagen Motorsport division in India as the sport continues to evolve. Prithviraj (the outgoing chief of VW Motorsport India) has set a benchmark and I will give my 100% to pick it up from where he has left it and ensure that motorsport continues to grow.”
