Tata Motors MD Karl Slym has died due to an accident in Bangkok. Slym was in Bangkok to attend a board meeting and reportedly fell from a high floor at the five-star hotel where he was staying. This news comes as a shock and the whole automotive industry is still coming to terms with this loss.
Karl Slym was tasked with steering Tata Motors through the difficult times being the MD and the recent aggressive launches of the Nano Twist and new initiatives were the starting point of this revival. Before joining Tata Motors Slym was at GM India where he started his love for this country which ultimately prompted his decison to stay in India and join as MD of Tata Motors.
Having met him many times at various launches Karl SLym was known for his sense of humour and his warm infectious personality. Tata Motors Chairman Cyrus Mistry said ''In this hour of grief, our thoughts are with Karl’s wife and family.”
