Renault Koleos 2014 First Look Review

By   |   28 January,2014

French car maker Renault has a surprise in store for those who stumbled onto their Facebook page. The company has unveiled the 2014 version of their SUV, the Koleos. We were all expecting the covers to be pulled off the car during the Indian Auto Expo to be held at New Delhi next week but Renault has seemingly decided to do so earlier than anticipated.

Renault will most likely be releasing the Koleos as 3 variants – a 2 wheel drive manual transmission variant, a 4 wheel drive manual transmission variant and a 4 wheel drive automatic transmission variant. The 4x2 variant is powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine that produces 148 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is quite frugal as well, returning a fuel economy figure of 17.15 kpl. Both the 4x4 variants get a more beefed up version of the same 2.0 litre diesel engine under their bonnets, delivering 171 bhp of power and 360 Nm of torque. As expected, this engine returns a slightly lesser fuel economy figure of 16.26 kpl while connected to the 6 speed manual transmission and 14.56 kpl while connected to the 6 speed automatic gearbox.

Barring the new front grille and the new sills, the car looks almost identical to its predecessor. Continuing with the exteriors of the car, the 2014 Renault Koleos is available to customers in a choice of four colours – Black Metallic, Ultra Silver, Maple Red or White Pearl. The inside is also typically Renault with good quality and a pleasing ambience. The interior scheme is done up in a two tone combination of black and beige. The car also gets a Bose entertainment system with a digital amplifier and 8 speakers, an automatic air conditioner and a 450 litre boot.
