French car maker Renault today announced the appointment of Mr. Sumit Sawhney as the Country CEO and Managing Director for Renault Group operations in India. Sawhney will take over from Marc Nassif, who will be moving to a global assignment within the group. The appointment is effective from 1st February, 2014. As Country CEO and MD, Sawhney will be responsible for managing the entire operations for Renault in India.
Sumit Sawhney joined Renault in India as Executive Director in September 2012 from General Motors. With 20 years of experience in the Indian automotive industry, Sumit has spent a significant part of his tenure in augmenting sales, marketing, after-sales business and network development for the US-based auto giant. Sawhney has been instrumental in establishing the Renault brand in India and setting the company on a growth trajectory. In his tenure, the Renault Duster has become one of the top selling SUVs in the country.
