Tata Motors has just revealed their new hatchback, the Bolt and a new Tata compact sedan called the Tata Zest. The Bolt was known previously by its code name, Falcon 4 or F4; and the Zest was known up until now as the Falcon 5.
The Tata Bolt and Zest petrol will be powered by the 1.2 litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that puts out 85 bhp. The diesel engine is mated to a 5 speed automated manual transmission. The Zest diesel will get the familiar and reliable 1.3 litre Multijet 90 bhp engine sourced from Fiat under its bonnet. The Zest is a compact sedan, measuring in just shy of the 4 metre mark.
These cars are scheduled to be put on sale during the second half of this year and, according to Tata Motors, they feature an all new design language, a new Tata grille, infotainment system from Harman Kardon, a touchscreen navigation system by MapmyIndia, rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, electronic power steering by ZF and more.
The Zest and the Bolt get very upmarket and funky looking dual tone interiors and we feel that this is a huge step up for Tata Motors. The suspension has been tweaked as well, resulting in a more comfortable ride quality.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, President, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors, said, "We at Tata Motors are delighted to showcase to the global market the much awaited next generation cars - the ZEST, a stunning and exciting new compact sedan and the BOLT, a dynamic hatch.
These cars have been engineered for global markets, through global teams across India, UK and Korea to set new standards in their respective segments. These cars are a true representation of our Horizonext philosophy, with best-in-class offerings for performance that yet offers economy and efficiency."
