By   |   04 February,2014

Compact sedans are a rage these days and yesterday two were revealed and today one more will be revealed. The compact sedan market took off with the Maruti Dzire and then further exploded with the Honda Amaze. The Tata Zest is among the new cars that Tata will roll out in the coming months. So what is the Zest compact sedan all about? Read on.

Tata Zest Exterior

A new design language is what the Tata Zest is all about and it does look good. It all starts from the front with the new Tata signature grille, sharp headlights and a aggressive front bumper design. The in the Zest there are projector headlamps with chrome accents, DRL's, rear LEDs, 15 inch alloys plus the Buzz Blue colour that you see here.

The overall design is much better than anything Tata has ever produced and also the build quality is now improved. We think the Zest is now one of the best looking cars in its class and that is a massive leap forward for Tata Motors.

Tata Zest Interior

Inside there has been a massive improvement over the Manza/ Vista with better quality materials and a more modern design. We like the more sporty steering than the one in the Vista. On the features front Tata Motors has packed in a lot. You get new HARMAN infotainment system, Bluetooth, smart voice recognition, smartphone integration, supporting phone enabled navigation, social media integration, touch phone controlled interface. When it comes to space the rear seats are comfy and headroom/legroom, a Tata Motors strength remains. There is good amount of comfort and the boot is big as well.

Tata Zest Engines and F-Tronic AMT

The Tata Zest will have two engine options starting with the new Revotron 85 bhp 1.2T petrol which as you would have guessed is turbocharged. This will result is better fuel economy for starters. Tata Motors will also launch the Zest with a 90 bhp diesel engine with 200 Nm of torque. The talking point is that the Tata Zest diesel will have the F-Tronic 5-speed Automated manual gearbox. The Tata Zest lso features new Electronic Power Assisted Steering, new ABS and Dual-Path suspension for a better ride.

Tata Zest price

The Tata Zest will be launched later this year and we expect it to be priced competitively. So with the new looks, more features and added tech the Tata Zest is an impressive product. We expect the base petrol Zest to be priced around Rs 4.8 lakh and the top-end model diesel AT to touch Rs 8 lakh as pricing is key with many rivals like the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire.
