The facelifted Linea is here finally and it will be the first of the 4 new models that Fiat plans to launch this year. The 2014 Linea was something that was long overdue and while the basic shape is the same the front now gets a new look. The front-end of the Linea now sports a new grille, new foglamps, front bumpers which alters the looks and gives it a more premium feel.
The side stance stays the same but that is something we do not mind as the Linea has always been a classicly beautiful sedan. Move to the rear and things looks the same but look closely and the rear bumpers have been tweaked. Step inside and the interiors represent a bigger change compared to the exteriors and the slightly dated interior is now all gone.
The all new centre console looks good and gives it a high-end look. Quality is also improved and this could very well be best cabin for this price. The new Linea now sports features like cruise control, new audio system with USB + Aux-in & Blue Tooth compatibility, reverse parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, climate control. The instrument cluster has also been changed with chrome added.
The space seems the same and overall we really liked the Linea cabin. The engine line-up though is unchanged with the 1.4 turbo petrol and 1.3 Multijet diesel. The new Linea starts at Rs 6.99 lakh for the base Active petrol variant which means that Fiat wants to fight the Hyundai Verna, new Honda City and win.
The diesel range starts at Rs 8.1 lakh and the equipment levels are good here. The new Linea will also be offered with choice of two new colours. Overall the new Fiat Linea is an impressive car and on first impressions it impressed us with its looks, new cabin and feature list.
