SsangYong Rodius is a car that you should check out at the Auto Expo 2014 and while the Mahindra Halo sportscar was hogging all the lime-light next to it, this is the car that Mahindra are planning to launch this year. So this means this will be the biggest threat to the new Toyota Innova. The new Toyota Innova with a new look is more expensive and targetting at the more premium end and this where the SsangYong Rodius too will operate.
The earlier avatar of the Rodius was, to be really frank, very very ugly while this one is much more pleasing to the eye. The Rodius is big and has lot of presence just like an Innova. The styling is clean and pleasant, quite handsome even. There is a 2.0 diesel with 152 bhp on offer and there will be a 6-speed manual plus crucially a 5-speed AT option as well.
The bigger talking point is the interior where there is lots of space. Thanks to its 3,000mm wheelbase, the car provides a huge internal space where seven adults can travel in supreme comfort together with their luggage and there are three rows of seats as well as a large load area which can be further increased by removing the third row completely.
The second row of seats can be folded individually and used as tables, and there is still sufficient room to accommodate airline style seat back folding tables. This is an appealing car and all depends on the price but Mahindra are keen on this car so expect it to come this year end.
