In order to improve its sales figures in the upcoming time, Mahindra displayed two new variants of their existing models, XUV 500 and Quanto at the Auto Expo 2014.
The flagship model Mahindra XUV 500 now comes with the hybrid technology which as per company is more efficient than the regular model thanks to an electric motor which is connected with the internal combustion engine which follows the process of regenerative braking. While braking and free wheeling, this electric motor gets charged and enhances the fuel efficiency of the vehicle by as much as 18 percent proving it a very useful technology.
Second new offering from Mahindra is the new variant of their sub-four meter car, Quanto known as Quanto shift. When everyone is talking about, automated manual transmissions, Mahindra has also used this technology for the first time in Quanto. Similar to Maruti Celerio and other cars featuring AMT, Quanto shift is also equipped with a five speed AMT which is operated by dedicated ECU and hydraulic actuators operating gearshifts and clutch. One can either drive this car with automatic transmission or can manually shift the gears like any other manual gearbox.
Looking at the rising popularity of AMT in India, we must expect few more models soon from Mahindra equipped with AMT technology.
