After their long overdue separation with Hover Automotive India, Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has announced that they will terminate the sales of the 370Z sports car and the X-Trail SUV in India. Both these cars were sold in India as CBUs and were focussed on niche markets.
The company has decided to sever all connections that were holding it back and instead, pay more attention to sales volumes. Cars like the Micra and Sunny have been doing quite well in India and the Nissan Terrano has been accepted we ll too. Though with the 370Z and X-Trail discontinued the Nissan Teana will continue to be sold.
The company however, is likely to begin production of the X-Trail at its plant just outside Chennai and in that case, due to the reduced costs, the SUV might be re-launched in India with the new gen model. Nissan has its hands full with the Datsun GO and the new Nissan Sunny launching soon.
