Toyota launched the new Corolla here in India at the recently concluded Auto Expo held at New Delhi. There might be a new, hot variant following it soon as the company’s Thailand division has released the Corolla Altis ESport.
The ESport looks like the meaner, faster and more butch sibling of the regular Toyota Corolla Altis; but don’t let that fool you into thinking that this car has increased power or razor sharp performance. There has been no alteration to the engine or drive-train, but the car does get stiffened suspension, fins and other aerodynamic add-ons and a diffuser to make it feel sportier. Powering this car is the same 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder engine that develops 139 bhp and in this case, it is mated to a 7 speed CVT automatic gearbox.
Inside, this sedan gets paddle shifters, steering mounted controls, automatic air conditioner, black leather upholstery and a 6-speaker audio system. The exterior of the ESport version of the Toyota Corolla Altis gets rather beautiful headlight clusters with projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights, a front grille with a grey strip, an aerodynamic body kit and huge 17 inch alloy wheels. Customers can choose from the following paint schemes - Dark Brown Mica Metallic, Gray Metallic (new color), White Pearl, Metallic Silver and Black Mica.
