Koenigsegg Agera One:1 First Look

By   |   04 March,2014

Fact is that it is nigh on impossible to stand out in the world of supercars and hypercars if you’re a new entrant, a small company and if you don’t have the pedigree and heritage of automotive stalwarts like Porsche or Ferrari. But despite having these disadvantages, a manufacturer from Sweden has done exactly that. And how!

The name Koenigsegg might not be familiar to all and sundry but for those who have a deep passion for cars, it is something of pure awe. The Koenigsegg Agera was already a really fast car; turning piffling little supercars into mincemeat and making them look like family hatchbacks in a drag race. But now, the mad scientists at Koenigsegg have gone and created the Agera One:1.

The name badge reflects the car’s 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, which means every kilogram of weight on this car has 1 dedicated horsepower to push it. Also, Koenigsegg is labelling this car not as a supercar, not even as a hypercar; but as a megacar and that is because this vehicle’s 5.0 litre, twin turbocharged V8 produces a planet-shattering 1,340 bhp, which equals 1 megawatt of power!

To harness all this power and ensure that the One:1 goes where its pointed at and not spin off and send the driver through the pearly gates while on fire, this car has an active chassis made of carbon fibre, Kevlar and aerospace grade aluminium, active aero, active triplex suspension, an F1 style flat under-body, a specially developed 7 speed dual clutch transmission and a whopping 600 kg of downforce. If you would like to reshape your face, that’s possible as well since the One:1 can produce 2g of lateral grip!

The One:1 is probably the most alive and most insane car to be created but then, it would be just that – a collection of superlatives, mad engineering feats and mad statistics that come together to give you one of the most outrageous and most unforgettable driving experiences you can have on 4 wheels.
