2015 BMW X4 First Look Review

By   |   06 March,2014

This is the new BMW X4 and while the concept version was revealed some time back the production version as you can see has barely changed. The obvious concept bling is not there but anyways let us now dig deep into this new BMW as this one is important for BMW India. The X6 has been more successful than any other SUV in BMW stable and it seems buyers would want to trade space for the coupe like looks of the X6. The X4 then is a miniature version of the X6 and thats no bad thing really.

BMW X4 Looks

The design is aggressive and a pure BMW. There are large air intakes positioned on the outer edges of the front end and the character lines in the front apron plus the signature BMW twin headlights and front fog lamps (both optionally with LED technology) which come together well. While the front is handsome it is the rear that the new X4 looks the most radical. The L-shaped LED lights, swoppy rear end look unlike any other BMW SUV and also makes the X3 too sober. Sitting lower with big wheels the X4 clearly has a lot of presence.

BMW X4 interior

For the sporty look you sit lower in the X4 compared to the X3 which is nice and apart from that its the driver focussed BMW cabin that we have come to know. The driver and front passenger sit 20 millimetres lower than in the BMW X3 yet it has got decent space for five and standard 40:20:40 split rear seat backrest. It is also loaded with all sorts of tech. Headroom, legroom is less than the BMW X3 but its not as bad as you think.

BMW X4 Engines

There are three petrol and diesel engines though line-up for India is yet to be confirmed. The top of the line petrol model is the BMW X4 xDrive35i with 306 bhp. In the diesel it is the BMW X4 xDrive35d. All get the eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

BMW X4 features

The feature list includes full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, the anti-dazzle High Beam Assistant, and Driving Assistant Plus including Lane Departure Warning, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, preventive pedestrian protection and a Collision Warning system.

The BMW X4 will be more expensive than the X3 but obviosuly cheaper than the X6 which means this could be the most popular BMW crossover in India.
