The Fiat 500 has been loved the world over practically right after its launch and for good reason. This was a car that had no problems whatsoever with rush hour city traffic, turning tight gaps into parking spaces and having the capability to give the driver a fabulous driving experience.

Then came along an Italian firm named Abarth which gave the little 500 heaps more oomph. The latest version of the resultant car, the Abarth 595 Competitzione, has a lot more power, stiffened suspension and several other changes that have made it an absolute hoot to drive. The best part about all this is the fact that this car will finally go on sale in India sometime in June 2015!

Fiat officially signalled the entry of Abarth at the Auto Expo 2014 held last year outside New Delhi. The build quality is very good and this car drips style. From the outside, you notice its gigantic 17 inch alloys, graphite-like finishing for certain parts, its rotund projector headlamps and foglamps and so on.

Another interesting fact is that this car does not carry the Fiat badge anywhere on it but instead, it gets a lot of the Abarth scorpion badges. This car provides you a way of looking cool and still being able to drive like a racing driver. On the inside, you get sporty and supportive racing seats, flat bottomed multifunction steering wheel, aluminium alloy pedals, a digital instrument cluster with modern graphics and so on.

The Abarth 595 will be available in India with a 1.4 litre, turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet that develops 160 bhp. This engine will be coupled to a 5 speed manual gearbox. With the Abarth-tuned sports suspension, expect it to be super fun to drive and a blast around the corners as driveability is one of the biggest USPs of this car.

Also, at first, this car will be imported into India as a CBU, so prices will be on the higher side; but Fiat will eventually commence localized production of the 595 Abarth Competitzione. This will bring down prices of the car and lower costs will give the car an important advantage to up go against established and highly capable rivals like the Mini Cooper.
