We are at the launch of the new Hyundai Xcent which is its compact sedan offering for the Indian market. Based on the Hyundai Grand i10 the Xcent features a petrol and a diesel engine with the petrol having the automatic option.
While a lot of the styling is shared with the hatch like the front the rear styling looks good and it seems the boot has been integrated well. Some of the differences with the Grand i10 hatch includes the rear styling of course, added boot space, slightly better rear seat comfort and bigger wheels.
The Hyundai Xcent is also loaded with features and gives tough competition to its rivals in this regard.
Updates from the Launch:
The car will come with either a 1.1 litre, 70 bhp, U2 CRDi diesel engine that gives 24.4 kpl or a 1.2 litre, 81 bhp, Kappa petrol engine that gives 19.1 kpl with the 5 speed manual gearbox. There is also the option of a 4 speed automatic gearbox, which will result in the mileage reducing to 16.9 kpl and the car has 6 colour options. The new Xcent will come in 3 variants - Base, S and SX, with varying levels of features. Bookings have started from today.
