New Toyota Corolla Altis 2014 First Look Review, Price

By Nitesh Sharma   |   14 March,2014

Shown at the Auto Expo 2014, New Corolla Altis is all set to enter our Indian car market in May last week, this year. The new age Altis comes with up-market looks and premium features which makes this car even better than its previous generation and some of its competitors. Those who complained about the conservative styling of Altis will surely appreciate the new designing of this car as now it looks dynamic and aggressive with extensive usage of chrome and sharp lines.

The face of Altis gets a new and wide front grille which merges nicely with its back stretched LED headlights. The Camry inspired face also features a new bumper with noticeable lines and sleek air dam. The extended length is quite visible when you see this car from either side and looks quite attractive with new 16inches alloy wheels.

Step inside and you will be glad to see the new dual tone color interiors which makes it look elegant and adds a premium touch to this car. The wheelbase has been stretched by 100mm to give you even more comfort at the back if you are looking for a chauffeur driven car. Moreover, the rear seats now come with reclining option giving you the best cabin space in its class.

Toyota has also added few more premium features in this car including leather seats, carbon black piano instrument console, push start/stop button, new 7-inch touchscreen audio system equipped with a reverse camera, navigation and Bluetooth connectivity with voice command system. Apart from these, you will also get rear power socket, reading lamp, keyless entry and rain sensor in this new car.

For those who like driving, Toyota has altered the steering angle from 24 degree to 22 degree and has also increased the vertical seat adjustment by 15mm.

Technically, there is no change in the new Altis as it carries forwards both its petrol and diesel engines form its predecessor. The 1.8L VVT-I petrol engine with a power output of 138bhp will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional seven speed CVT transmission and paddle shifters.

The 1.4L D4D diesel engine with a power output of 87bhp will only be available with a six-speed manual gearbox. As far as safety is concerned, Corolla Altis will only be available with Dual front airbags and ABS.

Toyota is yet to officially announce the pricing of this new car but they have started taking bookings with deliveries starting soon after its launch. We do not expect a big change over the price of the current Corolla Altis as competition is fierce. Toyota has surely made positive changes in this car which should work in their favor and with right price tag and Toyota’s reliability. The new Corolla Altis will compete with the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Renault Fluence.
