The Fluence was Renault's first product in India and till now it has not managed to replicate the success of the Duster and that is partially also due to our demand for SUVs. Now though with many sedan launches the lower D segment market is looking up. Thus the time is right for Renault to launch the 2014 Fluence facelift. If you had visited the Auto Expo 2014 you would have seen it in the flesh. Now Renault will launch it within a few days on 19th March.
We tell you what you need to know. First of all this is a facelift and a minor one at that but it does alter the look of the car. The front now gets the new Renault grille and a more aggressive design. It no longer looks soft. The big talking point is the LED daytime running lights and a lot of chrome used. In total there is a new grille, new bumpers, new fog lamps, bigger Renault logo, LED DRLs and new new R16 Kaleido alloy wheels. The facelifted 2014 Fluence will be available in four colours.
Inside changes are less visible but its a very good looking cabin and has loads of space plus comfort is very good. It has a dual tone upper dashboard which has a soft touch finish plus features like Smart Access Card, 3D Surround technology by Arkamys, Bluetooth and Plug & Music option, steering wheel-mounted fingertip remote controls, rear ac vents and more.
The big seller will no doubt be the diesel which will be available in E2 and E4 trim levels. The diesel makes 108 bhp and has a six-speed manual. The petrol will only be available in automatic form. The 2014 facelifted Fluence will have to compete with the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and also the upcoming new Toyota Corolla Altis. It will be an interesting battle.
