One of the most anticipated cars of the year, the Datsun Go, will finally be launched tomorrow. This car will be a cause of serious worry for its rivals due to its astonishingly low pricing. The top end variant of the car will be priced below INR 3.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi), as we have mentioned earlier in our Datsun Go test drive report.
The Go hatchback, which marks the resurrection of the Datsun brand worldwide, has a pretty good list of features despite its extremely affordable price tag such as power steering, front power windows, air conditioning, a mobile phone docking station, digital tachometer, distance to fuel empty readout, a 12 volt socket and even follow-me-home headlights! Power comes from a 1.2 litre petrol engine that develops 67 bhp. The engine is connected to a 5 speed manual transmission.
Datsun has left no stone unturned and even when it comes to safety and security, the company has not been tight fisted. The new hatchback gets features such as an engine immobiliser, a rear high mounted stop lamp and speed sensitive windscreen wipers. The car will be put together at the company’s production facility just outside Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Despite being a small and inexpensive vehicle, it does not have the dull and uninspired styling that cars of its price range usually tend to have. Taking everything into consideration, we feel that the Go is a cracking little car and Datsun has a winner in their hands.
