The Hyundai Verna has always been a very popular car but sales of the car these days have been a bit sluggish, primarily due to stronger competition like the newly launched Honda City. To counteract this effect, the company has launched a new base variant called the GL.
The biggest attraction of the Hyundai Verna GL variant is its price. The car, in its petrol version, costs INR 7.17 laks (ex showroom, New Delhi). The diesel version of the same costs INR 8.35 lakhs, also ex – showroom, New Delhi. The petrol engine is a 1.4 litre VTVT unit that puts out 105 bhp and is connected to a 5 speed manual gearbox; while the diesel motor is a 1.4 litre CRDi engine that generates 89 bhp and is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.
This new base variant of the Verna gets features such as keyless entry and an audio system but some of the features available on the higher variants have been omitted in this car to reduce costs.
