Mercedes-Benz One-Two at Bahrain GP

By   |   07 April,2014

At the recently concluded 2014 iteration of the Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Mercedes-Benz received a double dollop of joy with both the silver arrows achieving podium finishes.

Former Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and this year’s inaugural race winner Nico Rosberg blitzed their cars past the chequered flag for a Mercedes-Benz one-two, light years ahead of 3rd place finisher Sergio Perez in the Force India F1 car which incidentally, is also powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine. The battle for the top spot on the podium though, was far more intense and Rosberg crossed the line just a single second after his team mate Hamilton.

This win at Bahrain marked the 24th victory for the British Lewis Hamilton and it was special for German Nico Rosberg as well since it marked his 150th Grand Prix start. Fans of the Force India team watching the race also had reasons to celebrate since their car driven by Sergio Perez made a podium finish and the second Force India car driven by Nico Hulkenberg came fifth, a full second ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull F1 car. The next race of the 2014 calendar will be held at the Shanghai International Circuit in China on the 20th of April.
