BMW is all gearing up for the launch of its famous and most credible Sports Activity Vehicle, X5 this year. New age X5 is in its third generation and till now has always been the best seller in its segment and enjoys great fan following in India as well. The new X5 was recently shown to us at the Auto Expo 2014 a few months back.
The car has been re-profiled to get that upmarket and niche look. BMW will bring down the new X5 in India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route instead of CBU(Completely Built-Up Unit) and will locally assemble it in India at their Chennai plant for the first time which will surely help BMW to place it competitively in our market with more affordable price tag.
This new BMW X5 SUV will feature BMW xDrive, an all-wheel drive system and Dynamic Performance Control which as per requirement transfers power smoothly at its all four ends and offer you complete stability and confidence while cruising at high speeds. The new X5 is also more luxurious, spacious and feature rich than its previous generations.
The xDrive 30D variant of X5 equipped with a 3.0L, six cylinders engine with a massive power and torque output of 258bhp and 560Nm is likely to arrive in our Indian market. These figures are achieved at 4000rpm and 1500-3000rpm respectively. This engine will be served with an 8-speed automatic gearbox enabling this car to do a top speed of 230km/hr with reaching 0-100km/hr in less than 7 seconds.
BMW has already started approaching its prospective customers across India through their experience program. The car with its lower price tag and improved functionalities will surely mark its strong presence and will give BMW a strong foothold in the luxury SUV segment of cars in India.
