The Ford Focus is one of the most popular hatchbacks money can buy in several parts of the globe. To prove this point without a doubt, the Focus has retained its position as the world’s best-selling vehicle for 2013.
The American vehicle manufacturer has now revealed that a 4 door sedan version of the Focus will make its debut at the 2014 edition of the New York International Auto Show later in the month. The redesigned Ford Focus offers a bolder exterior design, a more intuitive and upscale interior, a host of technologies uncommon for a compact car and the additional powertrain option of Ford’s award-winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine with a new six-speed manual transmission in the U.S.-spec Focus.
Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, Ford Motor Company Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln commented, “It is remarkable to see Focus again lead the industry as the No. 1-selling vehicle nameplate on the planet. With the new car, we’ve raised the bar again, showcasing Ford’s commitment to continuous improvement – adding better technology for drivers and a sleeker, more modern exterior across the entire Focus family.” The company has already debuted a three door hatchback and a five door station wagon versions of the Focus at the recently held Geneva Motor Show and will showcase a high performance ST version later this year.
This new Ford Focus sedan, if the company decides to launch it in the Indian car market, will be positioned above the Ford Fiesta. We feel that this will be a good move on Ford's part since the company does not have a premium sedan in its repertoire at the moment. In India, Ford could position this car to squarely target luxury sedans like the new Skoda Octavia and the Toyota Corolla Altis.
