During the time period of January - March 2014, the Volkswagen Group delivered an astonishing 2.40 million vehicles, a 5.8% increase compared to the 2.27 million vehicles sold during the same time frame of last year.
The company delivered 9,58,600 vehicles in the overall European market, 1,97,300 vehicles in the North American market and 9,78,700 vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region during the January - March 2014 period. Interestingly, out of the total number of vehicles sold in the Asia-Pacific region, 8,80,700 units were handed over in China alone.
Commenting on the sales performance, Christian Klingler, the Group Board Member for Sales said, “The positive momentum in the Asia-Pacific region continued, with China remaining the Group’s largest single market. Furthermore, there are signs of a return to a modest growth on the markets in Western Europe. In terms of Group brands, Audi, Škoda and also Seat recorded the highest percentage increases, with deliveries in some cases rising quite significantly.”
