Chevrolet Trax SUV First Look Review

By   |   19 April,2014

We are at the 2014 New York International Auto Show and have just seen Chevrolet’s latest baby SUV, the Trax. Despite its diminutive proportions (considering the facts that it is an SUV and it is very much American), the Trax looks chunky and robust.

This new SUV is around 25 centimetres over the length which, in India, would have classified it as a compact SUV like the Ford EcoSport. The people who designed this car have made sure that, while it looks powerful, it is also aerodynamic and that has resulted in a swooping roofline, a little boot spoiler and an air dam at the front.

Engine options for the Chevrolet Trax are a 1.4 litre, turbocharged petrol engine that develops 140 hp, a 1.6 litre petrol engine and a 1.7 litre, turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 130 hp. Transmissions can be either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox.

The Trax also has a lot of storage space inside with compartments and cubbyholes being plentiful. The top end variant of the vehicle will be equipped witg Chevrolet’s MyLink, which is an infotainment system that makes the contents of your paired smartphone appear on a 7 inch touchscreen. This car has a high probability of making its way to India but this will not happen before the launch of the Chevrolet Adra, which was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo held at Greater Noida in February.
