One of our readers has sent us images of the Hyundai Eon with the bigger 1.0 engine. It was in the news for a long time that the Eon would get a power hike with the 1.0 engine due to the presence of new competition like the Datsun GO and now it seems the launch is around the corner. Currently the Eon has a 814cc engine which while adequate needs more power which is where this one comes in.
The engine is a familiar unit based on the 1.2 Kappa engine and while the current 814cc engine makes 55 bhp the 1.0 engine, according to our sources, makes 68 bhp which will give a boost to the performance. The 814cc engine will also continue in the range while this engine will be positioned in only the Magna variant featured here. This will enable it to compete with rivals like the Datsun GO and Maruti Alto K10.
The Eon has always been a good looking hatchback and its equipment levels are also impressive so its only weakness has been the engine which has now been addressed. The Eon 1.0 seems to have no styling changes with the only change being the badge at the rear and also the interiors remain the same. Hyundai have not yet revealed any details on the car so we have to wait for the official figures including efficiency and the price.
