The scooter which completely changed the scenario of automatic scooters in our market, Honda Activa has once again entered a new segment in India. This time Honda is focusing on new segment of buyers looking for more power and performance. This new age Activa also becomes Honda's first scooter to be powered by a 125cc engine.
The first appearance of this new scooter is not strikingly new but looks far stylish and appealing than its younger sibling, Activa 110cc. The addition of chrome at front and new sharp lines surely brings the sporty and premium character to this scooter which is quite essential for it to succeed in this segment.
This 125cc, four-stroke, forced air-cooled, single cylinder engine pumps out a power and torque output of 8.6bhp and 10.12Nm which can be achieved at 6500rpm and 5500rpm respectively. As per Honda, this HET engine mated with their trademark V-matic transmission can return a fuel efficiency of around 60km/ltr.
Activa 125 is available in two variants namely, Standard and Deluxe with its standard variant being priced at INR 57531 which makes it around 7K more expensive than the Deluxe variant of the current 110cc powered Activa. The deluxe variant of Activa comes with a price tag of INR 63645 (all prices, on road Delhi). Honda offers combined braking system (CBS)as standard on both variants of Activa 125 including availability of Disc Brakes and alloy wheels in the Deluxe variant.
The Deluxe variant gets a disc brake of 190mm at front whereas the standard variant gets drums of 130mm at both ends. This scooter will be available in four different colors namely Black, Silver, White and a new Blue shade. As per its specifications, body styling and pricing, the scooter will find itself standing against its competitors like Vespa, Access and Duro in our market. Let’s see if Honda can achieve the same success in this segment with Activa 125 as they did earlier with the 110cc powered Activa.
