Scandinavia’s most famous car manufacturer, Volvo, has committed to fortify its presence in the subcontinent by announcing its plans to open 4 new dealerships in India within the timeframe of one month.
The company has said that the new showrooms will be opened in the cities of Surat, Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata. Volvo has adopted a more aggressive stance in the Indian car market and will probably begin to assemble their vehicles locally to reduce costs. Up until now, Volvo has been bringing their cars to India via the CBU route which has kicked up costs and put the company at a severe disadvantage.
In 2013, the company just saw their best year yet in terms of sales. They have already launched cars like the new Volvo V40 Cross Country and the new Volvo S80 and are now set to launch the next gen XC90 to further increase sales. The new XC90 will make its debut at the soon to be held Paris Motor Show 2014. This year will also see Volvo bringing in some of their latest, efficient engines belonging to the Drive-E family.
