The Celerio is Maruti Suzuki’s latest weapon of choice and it is doing brilliantly well, as expected. To give potential customers even more of an incentive, the company has announced that it will be releasing a CNG variant of the car next month.
This new variant will be called the Maruti Suzuki Celerio Green and the company will be providing it only on the VXi variant. Under the bonnet, the engine used is the same 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder motor that is connected to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately, the Green variant will not get the Celerio’s famed automated manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki has pegged the price of the Celerio Green at INR 4.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The company has also made some changes to the car; for example, the suspension has been tweaked so that it can cope with the extra weight of the CNG cylinder and the engine has been equipped with the Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) technology, which has been seen on some of Maruti Suzuki’s other CNG models. The Celerio, which was already a very good little car, now provides customers with very low running costs and whichever way one looks at it, that is an excellent deal.
