Yamaha has unveiled their new sports bike YZF-25 in Indonesia. This new addition to the R-series line up is specifically developed for emerging markets like India and Indonesia where people demand sports models with true Superbike DNA at affordable prices.
The styling of the new bike surely seems inspired from its elder siblings like R1 and R6. The full aerodynamic side and front fairing of R25 along with reverse slanted twin headlights gives it a premium and sporty feel. The air-intake ducts and dual colored sporty graphics all over the body further enhance its aerodynamic appearance. The V-shaped front face featuring integrated transparent visor and step up seat arrangement resembles a lot to its elder siblings. The all black theme on its engine, muffler and alloy wheels also merges nicely with the body colors of this bike.
The R25 will debut with a liquid cooled, two cylinder 250cc petrol engine. This four-stroke engine churns out a power output of 35.5bhp at 12000rpm with a maximum torque output of 22.6NM available at 10000prm. This fuel injected engines is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with one down and five up-gearshift pattern.
Yamaha has intentionally used the light steel body frame for this bike with a wheelbase of 1380mm to give it a more powerful performance and steady handling around corners. The bike weighs around 166kgs and focuses on mass centralization. The suspension system of R25 includes one of the largest in class 41mm front inner tubes along with monoshock at the back with a rear arm further contributing to the mass centralization. The brakingsystem of R25 includes dual piston 298mm disc at front and single piston 220mm disc brake at the back.
Initially, Yamaha will offer this bike in three colors namely Racing Blue, Back Predator and Diablo Red. The bike has been launched in Indonesia at a price of INR 2.7lakhs. The main competitors for YZF-R25 will be KTM 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300. We can also expect the entry of this bike in India in the coming time as R 25 will find the same market conditions in India along with same challengers to beat as in Indonesia.
