Toyota, the car manufacturer from the Land of the Rising Sun, has just launched the latest version of their Corolla Altis luxury sedan. This car, which was shown to us at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo held outside New Delhi, will be the latest to join the ever expanding fleet of luxury sedans in India.
The new Toyota Corolla Altis is a much better looking vehicle than its predecessor. With its sculpted LED headlamps, chrome front grille, LED tail lamp clusters and a generally sleeker and more sharp-suited appearance, the new Corolla is definitely off to a good start here. The interiors have been subjected to a sea change as well.
There is a 7 inch touchscreen that controls the infotainment system integrated into a piano black centre console, the dashboard has a dual tone colour scheme and the quality of materials used is high. Apart from these, the car also gets push button engine ignition, steering mounted controls, bluetooth and USB connectivity, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, an instrument binnacle with blue backlighting, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and so on. Toyota has loaded their new sedan with safety features as well; such as airbags for both front occupants, ABS with EBD and brake assist, a reversing camera with parking sensors and an engine immobiliser.
In terms of power, the new Toyota Corolla Altis gets the same but reliable 1.8 litre, 138 bhp petrol engine and 1.4 litre, 87 bhp diesel engine. Transmission options for the petrol variant are either a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed CVT gearbox. The diesel variant only comes with the 6 speed manual gearbox. Colour options for this car are White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Mica Metallic, Grey Metallic, Blue Metallic, Champaign Mica Metallic, Super White II and Celestial Black.
