Mercedes-Benz has launched the new S350 CDI diesel version of the S-Class in India. Ever since its introduction last year of the S500 LauncH Edition the S-Class has done very well and now the cheaper S-Class diesel is expected to form the bulk of the sales.
Priced at Rs 1.07 crore ex-showroom the S350 CDI is competitively priced. The diesel engine is a 3.0 256 bhp unit which means the S-Class even in its diesel avatar has enough oomph. The S350 CDI misses out on some features present on the S500 locally assembled version like missing out on the individual rear seats (having a bench instead) but the attractive price more than makes up for it. Bookings for the S350 CDI have started. The Mercedes-Benz S350 CDI will compete with the likes of the Audi A8L, BMW 7 Series and Jaguar XJ.
