Tata Motors is all set to launch its much awaited Zest compact sedan and Bolt hatch in a few days time. Media drives will start next month with the launch being late July or early August. What we have learnt is that Tata Motors wants to grab a large chunk of the compact midsize segment sales and will give it shock pricing.
This segment has seen some tough competition with the recently launched Hyundai Xcent storming the segment with its aggressive pricing giving it the lead. The engine options in the Tata Zest will include a 1.2 Turbo petrol and a 1.3 diesel. The highlight in the range is the Revotron engine but the diesel variant will have an AMT gearbox giving it an edge over others.
The Hyundai Verna has been the cheapest diesel AT in its class and now with the Zest/Bolt coming in, here is an untapped segment for Tata Motors. Thus with AMT efficiency and cost are both there and Tata Motors will pass it on to the customer.
Tata Motors wants these two cars to be a success and will make sure it gets everything right which includes a price that will shock its rivals.
