South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has been on a roll in India. The company offers a selection of brilliant new vehicles like the updated Hyundai Santa Fe, the new Hyundai Sonata and so on. In Hyundai’s hatchback section, the i20 has been sitting at the top for quite a while now. However, that is soon set to change.
During the festive season at the latter half of this year, Hyundai has plans to launch their i30 premium hatchback in India. This car will be the most expensive hatchback in the Hyundai stable but it should be priced below the Hyundai Verna (i.e., below INR 10 lakhs) for maximum impact. First thing that strikes you about the Hyundai i30 is its appearance and like all new Hyundais recently, it certainly does look good with its chiselled design and 21st century design characteristics.
The i30 is nearly as long as some sedans and that means, it’ll be a lot roomier on the inside than pretty much all other hatchbacks. The car gets a nice list of features such as an LCD screen in the centre console for navigation and infotainment, leather upholstery, climate control, steering mounted controls, push button engine ignition and so on. Customers can choose either a petrol or a diesel engine, both most likely 1.6 litre units, to power the i30 via a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic transmission.
The new Hyundai i30 is high on safety too, coming loaded with features such as ABS, ESP, brake assist, hill assist control, LED daytime running lights, cornering lights, airbags, a reversing camera and more. The car is reminiscent of the new Hyundai Elantra from the front and with its LED daytime running lights, striking alloy wheels and sculpted tail lamp clusters. All in all, Hyundai seems poised for yet another thumping success in India with the new i30.
