American auto giant Ford has revealed the production version of the new Ford Figo. In India, we knew the Figo first as a hatchback and more recently as a sedan. It will be the sedan version of the new Figo that first hits Indian roads next year. We also saw the car that this new Figo is based on, the Ka Concept, in November last year.
The production version has not been changed all that much from the concept version of the car. The headlight clusters of the production version, for instance, look identical to the concept version apart from a smoked appearance and different elements used. The front grille does not get the chrome treatment but instead, gets a honeycomb mesh. This car will launch in Brazil once the FIFA Football World Cup 2014 has ended with a 1.0 litre engine that develops a power output of 85 bhp.
This engine scores in the green department as well, since it can run on both petrol and ethanol. Gearshifts will be done by a 5 speed manual transmission. However, India is likely to see the new Figo with the existing 1.2 litre petrol and 1.4 litre diesel motors. Ford could also plonk the excellent 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine that drives the hugely successful Ford EcoSport.
