Japanese car maker Mitsubishi is poised to beef up its presence in the subcontinent by launching cars that can aggressively take on vehicles that have established themselves here. Next in line is an automatic version of the highly capable Pajero Sport. We have received evidence that points to a November launch for this car.
As of the moment, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available in India only with a 5 speed manual transmission. The motor powering it is the 2.5 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces a healthy 176 bhp. While the engine will remain the same, the automatic version will have a 5 speed auto ‘box in place of the stick shift.
The new Pajero Sport will also get a few cosmetic alterations such as a new bumper, different fog lamps and a remodelled front grille. The interior will also be subject to changes and additions. This new car is expected to be more feature rich than its predecessor and the interior ambience is supposed to be lighter, more airy and more premium than before. If Mitsubishi positions this car right, it will have vehicles like the Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and the SsangYong Rexton locked on in its crosshairs.
