Cars associated with ‘compact’ word are getting immensely popular in India and Hyundai is probably eyeing every compact car segment. After joining the compact sedan segment with their Xcent, they will soon enter the segment of compact SUVs in India which is currently dominated by Renault Duster, Ford Ecosport and Nissan Terrano. Hyundai will soon bring their ix25 to India which will be initially launched in the Chinese market.
The ix25 is 4.2m long which makes it slightly shorter than Duster and longer than Ecosport. It will be interesting to see though if Hyundai will tailor its length to avail the excise duty benefits on cars less than 4 meter like what Ford did with Ecosport or will bring it down here in its actual shape. As far as styling is concerned, ix25 follows the Hyundai’s Fluidic design scheme version 2 which includes a heavily chromed, sharp hexagonal grille, stretched back headlights and full size fog lights.
The spy pic shows the production version retains the handsome styling. The face of this SUV has high level of resemblance with Hyundai’s premium SUV, Hyundai Santa Fe. The interiors are expected to be feature rich and well styled like the other Hyundai cars.
When the ix25 makes its way to our market then it’s likely to share its petrol and diesel units with either Verna or i20; that again depends on its length. It seems like Duster and Ecosport will have a very strong competitor indeed which surely can’t go unnoticed with its futuristic styling.
