Big news from Tata Motors! The launch of the new Tata Zest will occur during the month of August. We have already driven this car but since there is an embargo on it till next Monday, we unfortunately cannot release all the details of this new compact sedan just yet.
What we can tell you is that the Zest will be powered by Tata’s latest family of engines – the Revotron. This 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine puts out a maximum power figure of 89 bhp. One of the main features of this car is its multi drive modes. The driver can select between City, Eco and Sport modes to suit her/his driving preference and the engine will change its performance delivery accordingly.
The car will also be available with the tried and tested 1.3 litre, 4 cylinder Quadrajet diesel engine. Transmission options are either a 5 speed manual or an automated manual gearbox. The Zest has a rather generous feature list that includes LED daytime running lights, alloy wheels, projector headamps, an infotainment system with a touchscreen, voice control and an 8 speaker audio system.
Once the Zest gets a strong foothold in the Indian car market, Tata Motors will give the green signal for the Bolt hatchback as well which means it will be within a few months after the launch of the Zest. So there you go after the Zest the Tata Bolt will be its next big launch.
