The best time for car buyers in India is just around the corner and major car makers are about to offer their best cars in the upcoming festive season. If you have been waiting for the launch of your favorite car this year then read out this article to know when your car will get launched in this September and coming October.
Skoda Yeti Facelift
To start off this session, we introduce you the new gen Yeti which has always been one of the most unique urban SUVs ever launched in India. The new car has got a new modern face with a prominent Skoda look. The car retains its reliable 2.0L TDI diesel engine in two states producing 109bhp and 138bhp for its two wheel and four wheel version respectively. It will only be available with manual transmission and it uses a new 4X4 system which is lighter and more advanced version than before. The launch is on 10th September, expect it to be priced around INR 15 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
The launch date is not yet confirmed but Ciaz will most likely launch early next month. Ciaz will be Maruti's biggest launch this year and will become a direct threat to segment leaders, City and Verna. The car gets power by a 1.4L 91bhp petrol engine which will also be on offer with an optional 4-speed automatic. Ciaz also retains 1.3L Multijet diesel engine from its predecessor, SX4 and claims to be the most fuel efficient diesel car in the country with an ARAI tested mileage of 26.21km/ltr. Expect prices to start from INR 7 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift
India's largest selling premium hatchback will also be launched with a facelift soon. New Swift will be seen with premium features such as push button start, keyless entry,auto folding mirrors, day time running LED lights, new design for its alloy wheels and audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. Technically, it will be same as before and will be served with best in business 1.2L k series petrol and 1.3L Multijet diesel engine. It's also learnt that new Swift may get a four-speed automatic transmission for its petrol engine. The new Swift lock horns with Elite i20, Polo and Punto Evo.
A legend will be replaced by another legend; yes we will see the arrival of Huracan on 22nd September which will act as a replacement for Lamborghini's worldwide famous sportscar, Gallardo. The new Huracan will be able to hit the three digit figures from standstill in just 3.2 seconds with claiming to reach a whacking top speed of 325km/hr. This mean machine will be powered by a 5.2L V10 supercharged petrol engine pumping out a power output of 610bhp which will be supplied to all wheels via a seven speed dual clutch transmission.
Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI
Adding to their luxury fleet, Mercedes Benz will launch a new 350CDI variant in its E-class line up. The car will be launched in India on 11th September. This will be the first V6 diesel engine in E-class with an utmost power and torque output of 243bhp and 620Nm respectively. This 3.0L diesel engine will be served with a seven speed automatic transmission.
India will also witness the launch of the most affordable SUV from the most renown luxury car brand in India on 30th September with pricing starting around INR 30lakhs. This compact SUV will battle it out against the segment leaders, Audi Q3 and BMW X1. This segment is currently contributing in large numbers to the sales figures of these auto giants in India and is expected to expand in near future at a much faster rate. GLA will get an option of two engines; one each of petrol and diesel. The 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines will supply power to front wheels and will be mated with a seven speed automatic transmission.
Skoda will also be launching the updated version of Rapid on 30th September which is currently their largest selling car in India. Skoda has planned to plant the new 1.5L TDI engine in Rapid producing 104bhp. This will be the same engine which is currently powering the new Polo GT TDI. There will also be the option of getting a DSG which was earlier missing in Rapid. Skoda will also bring some changes in the interiors of the car particularly in terms of features. Rapid will be placed below its competitors in our market including its own cousin, VW Vento.
Volkswagen Vento Facelift
After launching the new Polo in India, Volkswagen is soon to launch the updated Vento as well. The new car will share the new 1.5L TDI engine with its younger sibling while similar to Rapid, Vento will also be available with a DSG option. The exterior changes are expected to be mild as seen in Polo while there will be few more premium features inside with each variant offering slightly better overall package.
The continuously increasing segment of rugged looking hatchbacks in India will soon the entry of Fiat Avvenutura. This will be Fiat's answer to Volkswagen Cross Polo and Etios Cross. Avventura has already grabbed global attention at this year's Auto Expo with its urban SUV type looks and modern flesh styling. The high ground clearance of 205mm, body cladding all around, uniquely mounted spare tyre at the back are some of the key styling elements of Avventura. It gets power from the 1.3L 92bhp Multijet engine with power supplied to front wheels by a five-speed manual gearbox.
Renault Duster AWD
Finally, Renault will respond back to Indians with the launch of the much demanded all wheel drive variant of their immensely popular SUV, Duster. This will enable Duster to take on the four wheel drive variants of its prime rivals, Mahindra Scorpio, XUV 500 and Tata Safari Storme. This AWD variant is expected to be priced below XUV 500 so that it can cover all of its competitors. The 4wheel drive option will only be available with the 1.5L K9K diesel engine with a power output of 108.5bhp which will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with shorter gear ratios.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift
Mahindra's biggest game changer in India, Scorpio is finally ready with significant changes ditching its rather old and ageing styling for modern and premium looks. The SUV will feature a new face with sharp and bold styling with modern styling elements such as daytime running LED lights and LED tail lights. Mahindra has also worked on the alloy wheels, interiors particularly its central console, instrument cluster, interior colors, plastic quality and features. New Scorpio will come with premium features such as touch screen system with navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and rear parking display. There will no technical changes and hence will keep doing with 2.2L mHawk diesel engine churning out a power output of 120bhp which can be used by a five-speed manual gearbox.
