The latest offering from Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki, the Ciaz, has finally been launched at a price of INR 6.99 lakhs. The impending launch of this car had been surrounded by a massive buzz, not surprising considering the fact that the Ciaz will replace the SX4 and take on vehicles like the Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and so on.
Customers can choose their Ciaz to be powered either by a 1.4 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine that develops 94 bhp or by the trusty 1.3 litre, 4 cylinder, Fiat-sourced diesel engine that produces 89 bhp. Buyers of the diesel version of the Ciaz will only have the option of a 5 speed manual transmission but those who purchase the petrol variant can either have the same 5 speed manual gearbox or a 4 speed automatic.
The biggest trump card of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is its fuel economy. While the petrol version returns an admirable ARAI-certified figure of 20.73 kpl, the diesel variant returns an astonishing 26.21 kpl (also ARAI-certified), making it the most fuel efficient car in India. It must also be pointed out that the top-of-the-line ZXi+ and ZDi+ variants will be available only from early 2015 onwards.
There are 7 paint colour options and plenty of features such as projector headlamps, airbags, a SmartPlay infotainment system, voice recognition, climate control and more on offer with this car as well. Bookings for this car have been open for quite some time and from the way people are making a beeline for the Ciaz, it shows that Maruti Suzuki has yet another winner in its ranks.
