Another AMG? Oh yes!
It's been raining AMGs, and it appears that Mercedes Benz is in no mood to stop. GLA 45 AMG, which is the sportier version (both in terms of aesthetics and mechanicals) of the recently launched GLA crossover is ready to grace the market on October 27.
With an expected price of close to Rs 75 lakhs, the GLA 45 AMG is the least expensive AMG SUV that you can buy in India. It's based on Merc's MFA platform, but over the standard GLA, this AMG-bred vehicle gets an updated suspension, bigger wheels, and an all-wheel drive system. The more apparent changes (until you get behind the wheel, that is) include a sporty exterior and a more lavish interior. As the wheels are bigger, the GLA 45 AMG looks more handsome, with the other AMG parts (the radiator grille, new bumpers, quad exhaust et al.) complementing it. On the inside, there's the AMG branding, contrasting red stitching and seat belts, and an AMG steering wheel among the other bits that make the cabin more special than the regular, non-AMG version.
A 2-litre engine powers the GLA 45 AMG, much like the other MFA-based AMGs like the CLA 45 AMG that was introduced a few months ago. 355hp and 450Nm of maximum power and torque help the GLA 45 reach 100kmph from a naught in just 4.8s, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and Mercedes' 4MATIC all wheel drive system.
With all that, the GLA 45 AMG could very well be the Diwali gift you always wanted. Time to gift yourself one?
