The official sales reports of various manufacturers for the month of October are in and are as follows:
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) registered monthly domestic sales of 13,242 units in October 2014 witnessing a growth of 18%. The company sold 11,214 units in the corresponding month last year. The company also achieved the milestone of crossing 1 lakh units in the current financial year where it registered an overall growth of 43 % during the period April ——— October 2014 with 1,01,442 units as against 70,831 units during the corresponding period last year.
Total sales of Tata Motors (including exports) in October 2014 were 42,819 vehicles, a decline of 17% over 51,638 vehicles sold in October 2013. The decline was largely as the market continues to remain challenged by macroeconomic trends. Tata Motors saw its sedan segment sales shoot by 49% y-o-y (and continued to show a m-o-m growth). But the sales of the passenger cars in October 2014 were at 9,594 units, lower by 12% over 10,944 sold in October 2013.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,03,973 units in October 2014. This includes 97,069 units in domestic market and 6,904 units in exports. As compared to this year, the company had sold a total of 1,05,087 units in October 2013, which shows a decline of 1.1% in 2014. Even though domestic sales of Maruti Suzuki cars actually went up in 2014 from the same time last year, it was a reduction in exports that hit the overall sales numbers.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country———s second largest car manufacturer, registered a domestic sales figure of 38,010 units and exports of 18,000 units with cumulative sales of 56,010 units for the month of October 2014. This was mainly due to new models like the Elite i20 and the Xcent in conjunction with the festive season buying spree.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 12,556 units in Oct 2014 in the domestic market as compared to 13,162 units in Oct 2013. The Japanese company exported 1,160 units of Etios series last month. Toyota registered sales of 13,716 units, including exports, in October 2014 as compared to 15,576 units in the corresponding time period last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra India sales declined by 15.71% to 40,274 units in October 2014 as opposed to 47,787 units during the same month a year earlier. Ford India domestic sales also declined 26.62% from 9,163 units in October2013 to 6,723 units in October this year. Nissan also registered a 15.86% drop in sales at 4,106 units in India for the month of October.
