Check out our new Verna first drive here
The Verna in its recent avatar has been a big hit for Hyundai with buyers liking its styling and features. Hyundai had given it mild update sometime back but with new competition on offer with the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, the Verna facelift will make its way into India early next year.
This is a facelift and a big one at that especially when viewed from the front. The all new front-end looks good and is more subtle now but we think it looks classy. The Verna facelift styling represents the new Hyundai design language which moves away slightly from overly aggressive styling to something which is more mellow but still looks great. Case in point the new Hyundai Elite i20.
Back to the Verna facelift and it gets new projector headlamps, new chrome grille, new fog-lamps with LEDs and a new front bumper. While the side view remains the same the rear gets new LED tail-lamps with a new rear bumper. Inside things also largely stay the same and to be honest they did not much changing anyways especially on the features or the design front. Though we hope rear seat comfort is improved- something the new Verna will need to fight against the City and Ciaz
While engine line-up will be carried over from the current Verna the 4-speed AT will be replaced with a 6-speed one and that will give it an important edge over its main rivals plus also giving competition to the just launched Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid diesel DSG. Sold in Russia under the 'Solaris' name the Verna facelift could be slightly more expensive but the changes will more than make up for it.
