Sight for Sore Eyes in Mumbai as Classic Mercs Hit the Roads

By   |   09 November,2014

This year, German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz commemorates 120 years of motorsport heritage and to make it even sweeter, the company has won its very first Formula 1 World Constructors Championship this year as well. To celebrate both these events, Mercedes-Benz India organised a Classic Car rally in Mumbai.

Cars from various time periods turned up for the rally and a lot of Mumbaikars were treated to a lot of eye candy as automobiles like the W111 and W110 Fintails, W120 Pontons, the W108 and several others rolled past. Nobody could have complained that there were no new cars either, since also taking part in the rally was an all black Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The rally was flagged off from the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) at Nariman Point by Eberhard Kern, the Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. From the NCPA, the convoy proceeded to Peddar road, Horniman circle and the Bandra-Worli sea link. Eberhard Kern also pointed out that motorsport is something that transcends borders and brings people together. He also added that the 120 year long history of the company showcases its successes in many different auto racing categories and went on to dedicate the F1 Constructors Championship win to the team of engineers at Mercedes-Benz.
