The most glittery event in the automotive world right now is the 2014 iteration of the famous Los Angeles Motor Show in the USA. This is an event where pretty much every vehicle manufacturer shows off to the world what they have got lined up in the coming months. We give you a glimpse into this happening and list out some of the cars that are proper show stoppers here!
Audi Prologue Concept
Quite surely one of the biggest stars at the show and also probably the best looking, the Prologue concept hints at the Audi A9 and we really hope it goes into production. Just like the Mercedes S-Class coupe, the Audi Prologue concept is lower and wider than an A8 and oozes of presence. The interior is futuristic and of course, being an Audi, brimmed with gadgets. Audi, build it, please!
Porsche 911 Carrera GTS
This is a hotter version of the already hot Porsche 911. Regarded by many as the benchmark for all sportscars, the GTS version of the 911 comes equipped with the iconic 3.8 litre flat six engine but with more power. The engine has been tuned to churn out 430 hp and coupled to either a 7 speed manual or a 7 speed PDK automatic gearbox, it sure will be a hoot to drive.
Jaguar F-Type R AWD
India saw the Jaguar F-Type first at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo held in February and sure enough, it blew minds. With drop dead gorgeous looks and an engine note loud enough to possibly set off an earthquake, this was already an incredible car. The engine is the same but Jag has gone on to give it all wheel drive and a manual gearbox. Enough said.
Bentley Grand Convertible
This car has not been given the go ahead for production yet but, if it does, the Bentley Grand Convertible will probably become the most exclusive of all Bentleys. Production numbers will be small and if your pockets run deep enough, you will get the chance to style it the way you want, spec it the way you want and best of all, give it whatever name you want as well!
While the HR-V is not a show stopper, it is rather an important car. This SUV slots in below the CR-V and could find its way to Indian shores. The Honda HR-V will offer lots of space on the inside, a good amount of features and it will be backed by the reliability of Honda. With its attractive design and possibly competitive price tag, it will be within reach of most buyers too.
Ford Shelby Mustang GT350
The Mustang is one of the most recognisable and well known muscle cars in all history. Shelby branded Mustangs are the sharper, faster and loonier versions of this car and now, there is a new one on the loose. Called the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, this car has a naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V8 engine under the bonnet that belts out 500 hp.
Land Rover Discovery Sport
The Discovery line of SUVs from Land Rover has always been focussed more on utility. Now, the company is revamping the whole range starting with this new vehicle, the Land Rover Discovery Sport. This SUV can easily accommodate its passengers in 3 rows and drive over damn near every kind of ground, thanks to its state-of-the-art four wheel drive system and terrain mode controls.
Mercedes Maybach S600
Is the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class, well, too standard for you? Then the new Mercedes Maybach S600 will cater to your ultimate luxury cravings. The Maybach name has been brought back and thus, the S-Class is now a proper Bentley and Rolls-Royce rival. It is bigger, has oodles of space and a long list of luxury features not found on the standard S-Class. Rejoice, Plutocrats, for your car has arrived.
