Nissan Terrano AMT First Review, India Launch

By   |   07 October,2016

After the launch of the AMT version of the Renault Duster a few months ago, sister company Nissan is now introducing the AMT version of their SUV, the Terrano. The company has opened pre-bookings for the Terrano AMT at all Nissan dealerships across the country and interested customers can book their vehicle for a sum of INR 25,000.

This new version of the Terrano will have a 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel that puts out 108 bhp and a peak torque figure of 248Nm. Gear shifts are taken care of by a 6 speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Despite being an automatic, the Terrano AMT manages to return an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 19.61 kpl. This will certainly be a huge plus point to potential buyers as the Terrano AMT provides both the convenience of not having to endlessly change gears in bad traffic and yet does not destroy your bank account with large fuel bills.

Nissan has made some other changes and additions to the Terrano AMT such as electrically retractable rear view mirrors that have turn indicators incorporated into them, automatic warning for emergency braking and a new exterior paint colour called Sandstone Brown. The interiors also get some extra goodies such as door switches that are backlit for easy readability in the dark, new door panels, a front centre armrest, air vents with chrome bezels and a dual tone interior colour scheme.

Although the Terrano continues to miss out on features such as a touchscreen infotainment system and steering mounted control buttons, it does get a manual air conditioner, an audio system that supports aux-in and USB inputs, a 12 volt power outlet, ABS, airbags for both front occupants, reverse parking sensors and an Eco driving mode, amongst others. Prices for the Nissan Terrano AMT range from INR 13.75 to 13.85 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and deliveries will commence from later this month. With the introduction of this car, Nissan has given potential buyers a good incentive to purchase a Terrano.
