The new Fortuner was launched in India by Toyota on the 7th of November this year with prices ranging from INR 25.92 lakhs to INR 31.12 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). As a testament to the popularity and demand for this tough vehicle, if you walk into a Toyota showroom right now and order a Fortuner, it will take you up to 2 months to get the vehicle delivered. The Fortuner has received over 5400 bookings and more than 16,000 enquiries in a fortnight since its launch in India.
The vast chunk of orders for the new Fortuner are specifically for its diesel automatic variant. The petrol versions of the vehicle are being delivered to customers without any significant hold-ups. As of now, the Fortuner can be specified with either a 2.8 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that develops 174 bhp and 420 Nm of torque or a 2.7 litre, 4 cylinder petrol motor that puts out 164 bhp.
The new Fortuner comes equipped with features such as touchscreen infotainment system, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control with dedicated rear AC vents, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, downhill brake control and more. The Fortuner was a huge hit right from the day it first went on sale and now has nearly 1 lakh owners in India thanks to its excellent on- and off-road capabilities and its imposing road presence. As we can see from the way this new iteration is performing on the sales front, it is very apparent that nothing has changed.
